Your Website is the cornerstone of your entire online presence so making sure that it not only attracts new customers but converts them needs to be a high priority if you want consistent lead flow. Unfortunately a majority of painters look at it as just an online business card, something they have but it really doesn't do anything. It's much more than that. A properly structured website that converts prospects into paying clients can have your phone ringing off the hook. Having that type of lead flow allows you to pick which jobs you want to do and how much you want to charge. Today I am going to give you a few actionable tips that are easy to implement even if you are not tech savvy. I would read this all the way through once then as you implement them you might need to reread the section. For some of you a few of these things you might already have, for others you might need to implement all of them. Either way I would pick one of them and get it done then pick off the next one.If you need help reach out.
I want you to think about how you browse the internet when you are looking for a service. When you land on a website and are looking for information to make a decision to take some sort of action, what are you looking for? What actions are you going to take once you find the information? We all browse the internet pretty similarly so you need to think about your customers journey and apply those same principles. Chances are if you don't have the things I am going to outline on your website you are loosing money. People are finding you, going to your website, not finding the info they need to make a decision so they just click the "back" button and go to some other companies website. How sad is that?? So let's get these fixed!
Contact forms, these are a very easy way to have a client put in their information and have you contact them. These need to be on every single page of your website. The last thing you want is someone searching around different pages trying to find which page they were on that had the contact form on it. Think about it from your perspective, if you have to search for something you would probably just go somewhere you can find it easily, like someone else's website. So make sure it's on every page.
If you had someone develop your website for you and you notice its not on every page, reach out to that person/company and just ask them to add it. It shouldn't really cost you anything or if they do charge you it should be super minimal.
Have you ever been on a website and you just can't seem to find a phone number to call someone?? Is your website the same way. Just like we talked in the last section, we have to remove every barrier for a prospect to get in touch with us. Again think about the way you search, having a phone number easily accessible is key, especially since we all live on our phones. If you think about it, if you are on a businesses website what is the next logical step? To click the CALL button
There are a few really easy ways to make sure your phone number is easy to access.
1) Make it sticky. What that means is that as someone is scrolling the top bar that has your phone number in it stays at the top of the screen while they scroll so they never need to scroll to the top or the bottom to find it to click on it.
2) Put it in several different spots on each page. One at the top, one at the bottom and maybe one in the middle.
One thing you want to make sure to avoid is only having it on your "Contact Us" page. This is so agitating for consumers. Most of us have the attention span of a gnat so a majority of people won't take the time to go find it, they will just go somewhere else.
If someone is on your website they probably have questions of some sort. Having multiple ways for someone to contact you while they are on you website increases conversions because they are able to get those questions answered right now. A Chat Widget is a simple fix, they can message you and get those answers in real time.
There are tons of services out there that offer chat widgets and they are really easy to install. Again this is something that you can do on your own or have your website person/company do it for you.
**Note: If you install this you need to have yourself or a member of your team monitoring the app, if someone is on your site and they send a message in, the last thing they want is to wait 5 minutes for a response.
Many painting business owners still believe that the best way to convert a lead is through a phone call. While this works for some, younger generations often prefer a contactless booking process.
A simple online appointment booking tool with automated reminders allows visitors to schedule a free quote directly on your website—no calls, messages, or emails required. This hassle-free approach is one of the most effective ways to convert website traffic into leads. Plus, once it’s set up, it runs automatically with little need for oversight.
We’ve had great success with tools like Calendly, which integrates with your calendar to prevent double booking, embeds seamlessly on your website, and sends automatic reminders to reduce cancellations.
Adding your reviews to your website can go along way to convert a visitor to a paying client. You never know how someone got to your website, so you can't assume they already saw your Google Reviews. Our goal when someone lands on our website is to make the decision making process as short as possible, by showing your reviews gives that person more confidence to take the next step and reach out in some way.
There are lots of widgets you can add to your site to automatically pull in reviews from not only Google but also Facebook. So every time someone leaves a new review it is automatically added to your website.
There you have it, simple steps to convert more people into paying clients. If you had someone build your website I would analyze your website, identify the issues, then schedule a quick call with them.
If you need help you can always reach out!
